For 2013, the city announces NYC taxi app will be approved for use.  That means no more waiving and hailing out in the cold; order your taxi using your smartphone!  You can even pay using your mobile device!

There’s an app for that. Let’s face it, there’s an app for everything. Well, almost everything. Until lately, New Yorkers have had to put aside their app-dependency when engaging in the tradition of taxi-hailing. In a world where a click solves it all, those wanting a cab had no other options than the tried and true “arm-out” to get where they needed to go.

On July 6-22, immerse yourself in NY_Hearts: LES, a virtual love story you can experience through an app.

Audio books are ‘in’ but imagine a whole new way of storytelling –with an app. An app through which you hear the real sounds and see the real sites of the narrative –as though you’re actually there!  That’s the idea behind the Moveable Feast app.  The app allows you to create and share “multimedia narratives.”  It can be a tour when you’re far off traveling, within which you can include images, videos, and text –all connected to GPS coordinates and a “virtual trail” that others will be able to follow using their iPhone or desktop.

If you live in the NYC area, you probably complain about the NYC Subway, the LIRR and Metro North. You’ve likely missed a train because it arrived too early or were late to an appointment because it arrived late. A study last year showed that only 71% of riders reached the train on time +/- 5 minutes.

It’s nothing unique to New York City, it happens in almost every metropolis in the world. The same thing happens in Europe and in Asia. No one really knows when a train or bus will arrive.

The tech scene is flooded with new tech start-ups; we’ve decided to put together a list of a few that are making moves on the tech scene.

Each of us can name at least one friend who has had (or thought they had) a killer idea for the next big app. But how many of those ideas actually take off? Not many. Maybe it’s because the idea wasn’t brilliant after all, or maybe the Silicon Valley venture capital was missing. Whatever the case may be, in actuality, the start-up scene is flooded with apps and services that are more than worthy of investment. Here are our favorite new tech start-ups!

It seems that everywhere I look, there is a widening disparity between male and female entrepreneurs, most notably in the tech sector.

Whether this difference comes down to what toys we grow up playing with, or just the ways in which men and women approach technology, I am always struck when I see something which exhibits that in fact the gender gap is closing.

I recently read an article, on NYDailyNews titled “Golden Ladies of NYC”, which totally inspired me!

Everyone no doubt has their favorite city. For me personally, it’s New York City! I LOVE IT!

Whether you call it Manhattan, NYC, The Big Apple or just home, there’s something about New York that’s special. When I’m here, I’m still amazed at how some things never change; while others are constantly in flux, but I really just love how “The City” has so much character.
