Now your restaurant menu can be digital with Aptito!

Aptito is brilliant! Now before I get barraged with all of the standard questions that I’m sure are brought on by this concise statement such as: What is Aptito? Why are they brilliant? Does Aptito have any affiliation with “Tito”; (the rotund Hawaiian surfer from the hit Nickelodeon  cartoon series “Rocket Power”), who has a particular fondness for food? Please allow me to qualify those first three words, and answer each of those questions.

Daring to be different is no easy task; especially for women!

This morning I read through a special McKinsey & Company report, by Joanna Barsh and Lareina Yee titled: “Unlocking the full potential of women in the U.S. economy” . Although the report, 5 full pages, was a little lengthy for my taste, it presented numerous fascinating observations made after much thorough research and contemplation. In short, the report posits that a surefire way to increase GDP, employment, productivity and overall U.S. economic activity is to focus corporate efforts on making certain that women achieve the same roles as men in the workplace.

iCloud fever!

Apple has undoubtedly done some truly innovative things with its creativity since that fateful day of its founding on April 1, 1976 .It released the first “Macintosh Computer” (ubiquitously known now as just a Mac) in 1984, a machine that isn’t exactly the sexiest or most attractive gadget  in the world to us now, but back then was actually pretty fancy stuff.

Social Media is changing the landscape of, well… everything.  Even baking.  Check out these Social Media cookies!

My friend and fellow technologist Dawn Doherty re-tweeted this really awesome article by Katie Lance: An Impressive Example: Getting Social Media Right.  I thought Katie’s story was so phenomenal, I had to repost.

WABC Radio live (http://wabcradio.com) with The SBA (@The_SBA)

This past Saturday, I had the unique opportunity to discuss Cloud Computing on the radio!  It was on the Small Business Authority Hour on WABC Radio in New York. This week’s program was 100% focused on cloud computing (a subject I know quite a bit about :) ).  Cloud Computing is viewed as the most important trend for business owners over the course of the next five years.

Using any Internet connected device or thin client (i.e. an iPad), you can access your desktop from anywhere in the world.

Cute Geek (cutegeek.com) feature on Renee Schmidt (@cutegeek

CuteGeek, a technology blog written from the female perspective, recently did a profile on me: Brilliant Women in Technology: Meet Renee Schmidt  so I thought it would be proper to return the favor.  CuteGeek is a unique and user friendly technology blog with a guiding philosophy that can be summed up in a statement made by co-founder Radiris Diaz; “we represent everything men are and more…” Not only does this mean that CuteGeek is operated by women who call themselves geeks (although I call them heroines), but also that its content is directed at the technologically inclined modern woman.
