What is Facedeals, anyway? Facedeals is a face-recognition scanner and software that checks you in to stores and then, via Facebook, sends you a customized deal. Cool or creepy?

There is new advancement in face-recognition technology, causing ripples amongst critics and enthusiasts alike, and it will soon be in stores. Facedeals, which is a retail-focused consumer scanner, scans your face and then connects data from social networks. After scanning your face and recognizing you, it automatically checks you in to places, and then presents you with a customized deal based on your Facedeal profile (i.e. your ‘Like’ history, aggregated by where you shop, etc.).

SocialDot, a new app, lets you connect with people in your physical proximity.

With social networks wrestling for the top position, there seems to be little space for smaller companies who are literally focusing on a feature of two from Facebook, Twitter, or other social network. However, for an app with something different, more importantly, something refreshingly new and useful, there’s always potential users. SocialDot, a new way of connecting and communicating, fits the recipe.

If you want to increase your daily productivity, you can do so by learning Google. Subscribe to a course from Google itself and learn how.

We use Google everyday for all sorts of things. We search for confusing terms, we look up restaurants for places to dine, we even use Google to find out more about our business competitors. Google is everywhere and presumably, everyone knows how to use it –right?

Not so fast…

Digital eye strain is a modern problem that results in poor eye health and fatigue. The Vision Council listed recommendations in its recent report on the issue.

We are living in a technical society where the average time spent in front of a computer or other electronic device is increasing at an alarming rate. With the release of next generation gadgets, which only increase our exposure to electronic devices, the discussion of digital eye strain is timely a one.

With the release of the iPhone 5, the debate of which phone to choose, the Samsung Galaxy S3 vs iPhone, is hotter than ever. I weigh in on the pros and cons with my feedback on the Samsung Galaxy S3.

To be quite honest, I generally use my phone for email, voice calls, texting, calendar and not much else. So bear with me, because this review will only focus around the usability of these items.

The iPhone 5 was just released this past Friday; I’ve been pleased with my iPhone 4 for just over 2 years now so I was sure I would love the iPhone 5, but I couldn’t help but wonder if there was something better out there. I was super excited when Samsung sent me the Galaxy S3 to review; the timing couldn’t be better!

Wild About Trial is a mobile app for trial enthusiasts. The app provides the latest details on trials, including case background, key players, and updates on what’s happening in court.

There are occasional court trials that sweep the nation, garnering national (sometimes international) attention (think of the trials of O.J. Simpson, Michael Jackson, Scott Peterson, and Casey Anthony, to name a few). Some cases have been so captivating, I’ve found myself scouring Google for the latest updates on what happened in court. If you’ve ever found yourself needing to stay up to date with a sensational trial, there’s an app for that; it’s called Wild About Trial

If you’re mistrustful of the things coming across your web browser each day, you may be a cyber skeptic. A delve into cyber skepticism –the good, bad and ugly.

Social networking has done many things. It has opened up a more direct form of communication that lets us meet others who are large distances away. It has also provided a place for people to connect based on interests, passions or lifestyle. It has increased the amount of time we spend online and through mobile devices, we are now constantly connected. It has also created a bit of a gap when it comes to reality.

Fitness for geeks is a new concept; utilizing gaming technology to help geeks stay fit while they play digital games. A health prescription to the tech addicted.

Geeks inevitably play games, not always because they love them (but some do) but because they are victims of circumstance. It’s illogical to sit in an office for hours, doing absolutely nothing but designing or coding so many geeks can’t help but engage themselves with tech games. This is more of a boredom killer than a health prescription, making fitness for geeks an issue.
