LEGO for Girls? The soon to come LEGO Friends, is determined to challenge all preconceptions we have about what qualifies as a ‘boy’s toy’ and a ‘girl’s toy’.

Personally, I’ve always viewed the build it yourself, LEGO (@LEGO_Group) and K’nex type toys, as the much more male oriented ‘boy’s toys’. Maybe this was because they were only available in sets like the Bionicle’s, that were a little more, shall we say, dark and manly.

On the other side of the spectrum, call me sexist but as a child, I had no predilection to play with dolls. I didn’t find things like American Girl dolls to be fun or attractive, which was also probably because the lines available to me were unappealing simply in that they were intended for girls.

It seems like Google has got just so much to offer that hardly a day goes by when the company doesn’t roll out something new.

In the last few weeks in particular, Google has been offering so much,

Girls and careers in technology is a hot topic here on SheBytes. We’ve written about whether the amount of technology firms headed by female CEO’s and executives is improving, and have drawn attention to women led startups who are trying to tip the scales.

Social Media and gender are a hot topic, especially here on SheBytes, a tech blog written from a woman’s perspective. Women and men approach many things differently; and we are fascinated and really spellbound by the ways in which social media enable us not only to reach an incomparable number of people (when we look at how our past generations reached out to others), but also at how to engage and connect.

The always funny Robin Williams did a Siri impersonation on the Ellen show that really made us laugh!  Siri, the built in and easy to access app for personal assistance on the iPhone 4S, has spurned countless spoofs and YouTube clips.  We thought we’d share one.  Enjoy!

The Daily Muse is our favorite new startup; a a female oriented networking site, like nothing that has come before.

Its self-proclaimed mission (as per the “About” page), is to “bring community and career opportunities to professional women” and judging by what I’ve seen so far, they’re well on their way to doing just that.

That’s saying a lot considering the company and website have only been live for a couple of weeks!
