A ‘how to’ become a biker girl story. I bought a Kawasaki Ninja beginners bike; how the trials of dating led me to it, and why this motorcycle woman inspires authenticity.

A Sexy Foreign Encounter

Last November I began dating a positively delicious man; let’s call him ‘Don.’ To this day, I am unsure as to what it was that made Don so delicious: yes, he was hot, yes, he lived in a TriBeCa loft, yes, he had a high profile job, yes, he had a sexy foreign accent, and even a motorcycle to boot. Whatever it was about Don, the concoction was pretty spot-on. Being quite the charmer, when Don offered me a motorcycle ride around Manhattan during our second date, I –a woman that had never desired to mount a bike—excitedly said, “ok!”

Motorcycles had, up until that point, been pretty terrifying. But I guess oxytocin will make you do crazy things (more on that in another post), and so lo and behold, one Saturday in late November, I took a ride around Manhattan on the back of a Red Ducati. As it turned out, it was one of the most lyrical days of my life.

SheBytes gets a major facelift via a site redesign by the Small Business Authority (SBA)!

A Blog is an Organism

While this may strike you as an unlikely idea, it’s true: a blog is indeed an organism.  And like all blogs, SheBytes is alive.  SheBytes was born in early 2011 to happy parent; Renee Schmidt (that’s me!)  Since that fateful day, SheBytes has been a constant concern. I make sure SheBytes gets all the attention “she” deserves (yeah, that’s right; I decided to give my blog a gender). And, I provide for her by feeding SheBytes with all the nourishing content she needs to remain viable.  Now let’s fast forward a bit:

Today is the first day SheBytes is up with a brand spanking new, face-lift-redesign, courtesy of our dedicated and dear friends at the Small Business Authority (The SBA).

I recently posted about the U.S. government’s meddling in the merger between AT&T and T-Mobile by having filed an antitrust lawsuit to prevent the deal from going through.

It’s clear that wireless will be the communication and computing technology of the future, as sales of smartphones and tablets/iPads surge.  Competition among mobile carriers, then, is clearly important to both consumers and the economy.

Two chatbots, together, make for a party. A chatbot is a machine designed to emulate the conversational abilities of humans by conversing with a human user and generally attempting to convince the user into thinking that the machine itself is human.

Wonder what happens when you put two chatbots together?  Cornell Creative Machines Lab was wondering the same; they apparently didn’t have much to do on a rainy Friday afternoon, so they figured it out.  This is actually pretty amusing.

Need an assistance app? Siri is the best “personal assistant” application, able to assist you virtually with a wide array of plans such as making restaurant reservations, buying movie tickets, finding out what’s going on this weekend, and a whole bunch more.

Before we tell you more about Siri, let me first rejoice… we finally made it!  This is the last of our much beloved “Best 30 Apps For…” series, and we hope you’re as sad to see it go as SheBytes is. The series has covered a variety of areas, in order to try and accommodate for a wide range of interests.  We’ve done posts on apps for: Gaming, Photography, DJing, Sports, International Calling, Socializing and even Drinking!

SheBytes sincerely thanks you for keeping up to date with the apps and hopes you found them useful and were able to share the info with friends and family (scroll down to the end for the full list of 30)!

Without further ado, here we go:

“Using up to 60% less electricity”: Winning!

When off it “uses no power whatsoever”: Winning x2!!

“Solar remote control”: Seems more gimmick than a, “saving the world one TV at a time”, idea…

What’s the best app to stay on top of your favorite sports teams; all the time?  It’s ESPN!

For those of you who don’t know (which is probably a lot of you), ESPN actually stands for “Entertainment and Sports Programming Network” (who knew?). Even if you did know (show off), they developed the perfect app to keep you in the know.

ESPN ScoreCenter is free and can be downloaded here.
