manifesting-my-desires-am-i-worthy-self-worth-7-6-2015

I have been considering what it takes to manifest more of what I want into my life. This led me to question: am I worthy of what I want? And how does one determine self-worth or self-value anyway? The whole endeavor sounds like a big ego trip.

It’s not.

life-chart-connection-self-discipline-success-third-eye-6-25-2015

I want to bring together a couple of disparate ideas, some spiritual, some scientific, some empirical. By the end of this post I hope to have inspired you to consider meditation as a way of tapping into more fulfillment in your life. What’s covered:

-      Instant Gratification
-      Success (Happiness / Fulfillment)
-      Pre-frontal cortex & reptilian brain

why-deactivated-facebook-6-22-15

I deactivated my Facebook profile. Why? Because no one cares. Well, actually, if you’re reading this post and have found your way here to my personal blog, you may care. But by and large, people will not.

If you desire my substantiation, or thoughtful reasons why you may want to do the same, here are a couple of reasons why I’ve taken  my ~10 year old profile down.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve picked up my proverbial pen and sat down to write a blog post.  Anyone who understands me well also understands that my mind is constantly abuzz with information, thoughts, and ideas. But for whatever reason I’ve lately been unable or unwilling to take a breather —and a moment—to express myself. It’s been a compounding problem, as I’ll soon explain.  Over lunch yesterday with a dear and long-time friend who I hadn’t seen in a while, I was offered some simple and valuable advice: just start writing. And so I am.

401k_plan_coffee_investing_5_26_2014

This past week I listened to a presentation for young professional (20s and 30s) from one of the largest asset management firms in the world. The objective, which is of course to educate the audience, is also meant to help the firm snatch up talent and future wealth management clientele while those prospects are still spring chickens. Although I found the information presented to be generally useful and relevant to the respective audience, I couldn’t help but take a devils-advocate view on —well— just about everything. I bit my tongue until they presented this one particular example regarding a 401k

everest app

If you’re motivated to better yourself and the world, check out Everest, an app that helps you reach personal goals. According to the markers, “Everyone has their Everest. We help you climb yours.”

With Everest, figuring out how to reach your goals is all about focus and baby steps. You can add an unlimited number of goals, but you can only choose up to three to focus on. From there, you can break down each goal into baby steps so you can achieve something each day and set reminders to help you get into the habit of taking certain steps to reach the goals you set.

mantra-meditation-9-20-13

Deva & Miten take a quantum leap with the mantras, offering them in cyberspace as a free 21 Day Mantra Meditation Journey by Mentors Channel.

Meditation is often suggested as an antidote to stress, but it’s a daunting concept for many, bringing up images of sitting straight-backed on hard floors for hours…doing…what? And who has the time to sit still in the midst of a daily schedule that demands constant attention as it reels by like the nightly news on fast forward?

everloop social network for kids

Everloop is a great alternative to Facebook for kids in the 8-13 range who want to socialize online while still being safe.

Every time I see one of my friends’ kids join Facebook, I cringe a little. Oftentimes, these children are under Facebook’s required age (13 years), but even a young teen often doesn’t use much discretion when posting online. Okay, let’s be honest.
