I think T-Mobile will need to be aggressive with their pricing plans... take the 4 billion and use it toward acquiring small telecoms... such as Straight Talk, US Cellular, etc.

They are after all getting one billion worth of spectrum from ATT due to the failed merger... http://www.telecoms.com/43249/fcc-approves-att%E2%80%99s-spectrum-transfer-to-t-mobile/

I believe their parent company DT, needs to commit to another 5 to 10 years and infuse a few hundred million to keep the lean workforce operational. If they fail to subsidize their existing assets then it weakens the over-all-value of the company come time to sell it.

I love T-Mo and believe their pricing and plans are great... the new hardware (HTC One-S, Galaxy S 2, etc.) are on par... if only they can score the Galaxy S3, Nokia 900 (WM), Nokia 808 (Sym) and then the upcoming new 2012 Black Berry then they have staying power. An iPhone would be nice... but I think they are better off offering more pay-as-you-go phones at slightly subsidized cost. I have friends in the the burbs and closer to the cities who have left ATT/Verz to T-Mo due to better pricing... and as the economy stagnates, getting more for your buck is more convincing than always-having the-greatest-and-latest.

Sadly where I live now I had to accept ATT service (on a unlocked phone)... so I am waiting to jump once T-Mo gets better spectrum here in the North East.
