Groupon built a social network around "hit and run" shoppers that most business's are now avoiding. So, in theory, this sounds like a good business model but most business's are now working on building brand loyalty, a la Starbucks, as opposed to "Hit & Run" customers.  The internet has given people the tools to hunt for deals but once the deal is over they go after the next deal.
