The iPhone 4 / iPad 2 have enhanced camera functionality (FYI: the predecessor models had only one camera, while the new devices now actually have two: forward facing and rear facing).  The new cameras also have functionalities the old one did not, like:

Camera Flash
Open the Camera app; there’s a flash icon at the top left of the screen (looks like a lightning bolt).  Click on it and you get the following options:
• Auto: Flash is used as needed, depending on the device’s sensors.
• On: Turns the Flash on for each photo you take.
• Off: Turns the Flash off.

Camera Focus
Click on an element of the picture you wish to take and the Camera will focus in on it.

Camera Zoom
In the Camera app simply tap anywhere on the image you wish to take, a slide bar with a minus on one end and a plus on the other will appear at the bottom of the image. This is the zoom. Slide the bar left or right to zoom in and out.  When you’re set, click the camera icon on the bottom center and it’ll snap the zoomed photo.

HDR Photos
High Dynamic Range (HDR) photos take multiple exposures of the same scene.  They are then combined into a single, highly detailed image. To use, open the Camera app.  In the top center, click the HDR icon –make sure it is set to ‘On.’  FYI: HDR will create higher quality images but they also use up more memory on your device; so if you don’t need the enhanced images or you’re low on disk space, keep HDR set to ‘Off.’
