Square: iPhone Now Accepts Credit Cards –even Amex

Now your iPhone can accept Amex, or other credit cards, with Square!

The iPhone is now credit card compatible.  A company by the name of Square has designed a credit card reader that plugs into the headphone jack, enabling you to accept credit cards and debit cards on the fly.  Square then transfers daily deposit to your bank account.  The card reader and shipping are FREE; so is the application that runs it.   No monthly fees and no commitments. What you pay for? A swipe fee of 2.75% per swipe.

    I was at an event last year and a Square representative gave me a whole demonstration for this amazing product. It’s great if you want to collect a deposit or get paid in full on the spot.

    The 2.75% interest charge and if you enter the credit card numbers manually, Square costs 3.5% + 15¢ per transaction. This is not my favorite pricing structure for processing cards, it’s more expensive then AMEX, but the convenience factor for when your not in the office or in front of a computer to process the a card is what sells this for me.

      Definitely agree! There’s a HUGE value to collecting money on the spot… especially if it’s an outstanding debt or a deposit.

        Sometimes convenience can be costly, but this is still a great product and the technology advancements still amazes me.
